Star Trek actress Celeste Yarnall has died aged 74.
Celeste, who was known for playing Yeoman Martha Landon on the October 1967 episode of the sci-fi show opposite Chekov, died on Sunday.
Her husband said she passed away at her home in California following a “long struggle” with ovarian cancer.
“She was pure love and pure light,” he said. “This was her essence. She was a source of good. She was always for the betterment of humanity, especially women.
“She was very much a trailblazer in women’s empowerment. She was a spectrum of things.”
He added to Fox News: “I’m just so inconsolable. She was my everything.”
Celeste also appeared opposite Elvis Presley in Live A Little, Love A Little, and last year revealed the music icon was a big fan of Star Trek.
She told the Sky Arts film: “Elvis was a Star Trek fan. He even had a horse named Star Trek.”
The actress had appeared on Presley’s favourite TV show just a year before they worked together.
She said: “First day on set, Elvis gave me the biggest hug, and he said, ‘I just couldn’t wait to meet you. I knew you were coming. And I know you from Star Trek.’
“We became very, very dear friends and very close very quickly.”
