Frances Bean Cobain has been forced to give up her dad Kurt Cobain’s prized guitar as part of her divorce settlement, according to US reports.
In court documents obtained by People magazine, 25-year-old Frances settled with ex Isaiah Silva on Monday.
As part of the settlement, the aspiring musician had to hand over the guitar, which is said to be worth millions and only one of 300 made, after he claimed Frances had given it to him as a present.
Frances had denied she ever gave it to him as a present and asked for it to be kept in the family.
She also stated in court documents that he should not be entitled to any money from her dad’s reported $450million estate.
According to TMZ, Frances doesn’t have to pay Silva any spousal support, despite him asking for $25,000 a month. She gets the house they bought together and he has to pay his own legal bills.
Kurt played the guitar during Nirvana’s famous MTV Unplugged performance in November 1993 – the year before he took his own life when Frances was just 20 months old.
Frances’ mum Courtney Love previously told TMZ it was a “treasured heirloom” and “not his to take”.
The pair wed in June 2014 after four years together. Frances filed for divorce 21 months later in in March 2016.
Frances is now dating guitarist Matthew Cook.
